NC AFL-CIO and SC AFL-CIO pass resolutions in support of FLOC campaign and take action at Kangaroo stores

September, 2012

Both the North Carolina and South Carolina AFL-CIO State Federations passed resolutions in support of FLOC’s campaign to organize tobacco farmworkers in North Carolina and call on Reynolds American to guarantee freedom of association throughout their supply chain.

The resolutions passed with overwhelming support, and labor delegates committed to take part in community actions in support of the campaign. As both of the conventions adjourned, delegates went to nearby Kangaroo stores to deliver letters to the managers and press Kangaroo leadership to convey consumer concerns about farmworker working conditions to Reynolds American.

Many thanks to our labor brothers and sisters for their support in this campaign. Solidarity, forever!
