A few weeks ago we started a petition calling on NC Senator Brent Jackson to end the retaliation against workers on his farm, reinstate the seven workers who were blacklisted after speaking out against labor violations, and pay the workers the wages they’re owed.
The petition has reached nearly 10,000 signatures, and on Thursday, May 26 we’ll hand deliver the signatures to Senator Jackson.
You can join us in Raleigh for the delivery, or support the workers online through Facebook and Twitter!
10:00am Gather on the lawn in front (the side faceing Jones St.) of the NC General Assembly
10:15am Press conference (speakers to be announced soon)
10:45 Petition delivery at Senator Jackson’s office (room 2022)
If you haven’t added your name to the petition, you can still do so here.

Sample Facebook message: @Brent Jackson for Senate I stand with FLOC and the farmworkers that make your company profitable. End the retaliation against workers who speak out against labor violations, give the seven workers you blacklisted their jobs back, and pay them the wages they are owed! #Jackson7 #EndRetaliation #EndBlacklisting
We will also be delivering the petition to six of the major tobacco companies that purchase tobacco from NC. It is their responsibility to work with FLOC and ensure that workers have the right to freedom of association and a safe grievance mechanism, which will ensure that farmworkers can speak out against labor abuses without fear of retaliation.
